Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you take insurance for all types of therapy?
I take insurance for individual therapy and am in-network with Aetna and in-progress with BCBS and UHC plans. My out-of-network fee for individual therapy is $150 per 50-minute session ($165 for the 60-minute intake).
I do not accept insurance for couples therapy. My out-of-network fee for couples therapy is $175 per 50-minute session ($190 for the 60-minute intake).

Why do you not accept insurance for couples therapy?
Couples therapy isn’t usually covered by insurance since it isn’t based on treating one person’s mental health diagnosis. Rather than labeling one partner or navigating insurance rules that don’t fit the work, I keep couples sessions private-pay so we can focus fully on the relationship and what you’re both hoping to build.
-
Do you write ESA support letters?
I do not write emotional support animal support letters for any clients. Please consult your primary care physician for this request.
-
What is a consultation call?
I offer free 15-minute consult calls with all prospective clients in order for us to determine if we may be a good fit. This is a chance for you to share a bit about why you’re looking for therapy, what you may want in a therapist, and ask me any questions that you’d like answered.
-
Is therapy forever?
It certainly can be! This varies by client; some people want long-term support while others prefer working on specific goals and then moving on. We will develop a treatment plan and goals during our first few sessions to guide our work together. You have full control of how long you’d like to work together. If we decide that I can’t provide what you’re looking for from therapy then I will always give you referrals to help you find the best fit.
-
Do you provide crisis support?
Due to my business hours, I do not offer crisis support (e.g., multiple sessions per week, phone calls). In the intake session we will decide whether or not outpatient care is an appropriate level of support. I will provide multiple referrals for places where you can receive the level of care you need.
-
What should I expect in the first session?
The first session, or intake, typically fills 1-2 sessions. I guide the conversation with questions about your family history, medical history, experiences in therapy, therapy goals, and topics you may want to focus on. You’ll also have space to ask me any questions about the process or what to expect. It’s really just a chance for us to get to know each other better and start building a therapeutic relationship.
